We welcome the announcement that an in-principle agreement has been reached in the class action in respect to PFAS contamination in Williamtown, Katherine and Oakey.

These communities have been severely affected by PFAS contamination which leached from neighbouring RAAF bases.

The Williamtown, Katherine and Oakey communities have consistently shown courage, strength and determination throughout this gruelling process, and we are relieved that the government has decided not to drag them through the courts.

We wait in anticipation for finalisation of this agreement.

We note the statement by Ministers Reynolds and Chester that this is not the end of engagement with these communities.
